As part of our Chilly Billy lunch, we made Stripy Norman sandwiches. Stripy Norman is a character in the book, and is a caterpillar. We made our rolls look like Stripy Norman by cutting the bread in a different direction, and adding eyes using toothpicks and cheese. They were delicious!!!
If you would like to make your own Stripy Norman Sandwiches you will need:
One long roll Two toothpicks Ham, Lettuce, Tomato Mayonnaise or butter
"Take a long, thin roll and make deep cuts at equal distances along the top without cutting all the way through. Into the cuts put butter (or mayonnaise) and as much ham, lettuce, tomato and cheese as you can squeeze in. Put two little squares of cheese on toothpicks in one end for eyes, and there you are: a caterpillar you can eat!"
